The Sagra dell Uva, or Festival of the Grape, is an annual festival that takes place in Mendrisio at the end of September, which lucky for us happens to be this weekend. Consequently, we spent the day buying freshly baked macarons, herb infused goat cheese, and browsing through hand made goods from local vendors.

Since JC and I are currently not drinking alcohol (it’s been about two months), it seemed a little silly to be at a festival focused on grapes, or in reality, wine. The region has a lot of local wineries and so there was definitely a bit of temptation, but thankfully there was plenty of good food and other activities to keep us occupied.

It could not have been a nicer day, weather wise; the sun was shining and it was the warmest day we’ve had since arriving in Switzerland.
