Located in midtown Manhattan, The Carlton Hotel is a  luxury 4 star hotel that is self described as having “accommodations and amenities [that] are definitive of superior hospitality”. We chose to stay here this past weekend since it was a close walk to our destination for the night –  230 fifth and had four stars and nearly 500 ‘excellent’ votes on TripAdvisor.

We drove into the City, but got lucky enough to find a free parking spot close by which ended up saving us around $60. So, for around $250/night – on a weekend, we got a great room that was clean, spacious and even had a spacious (by New York hotel standards) closet! The lobby, designed by David Rockwell, has complimentary WIFI, a  flat screen TV  with couches, and plenty of historical touches like forty-foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers and a mahogany bar that dates back over 100 years to the original hotel! During the day, guests are invited to grab a coffee, tea or any other beverage or light bite from the lobby bar. More photos of our room after the jump.
