“Get out of the same dull routine of coming home after work and sitting on the couch for three hours” Yesterday we talked about how Breaking up can be the BEST remedy for changing your life! Well, as promised here is a list of 10 things to do post break up:

.) Take a class you have been wanting to take: photography, web-design, cooking, jewelry- making etc.

.) Start studying a foreign language (if you need something time consuming to keep your wandering mind at bay then, believe me, this is the task for you)

.) Join a NEW gym (or any gym at all if you don’t already belong to one). Getting those endorphins flowing can be a total mood change (in a good way)!!

.) Do things differently: wake up earlier and hit up the gym or go for a walk, get out of the same dull routine of coming home after work and sitting on the couch for three hours. Shop at different stores in different towns, hang out with people you wouldn’t normally hang out with. If we keep doing the same things then we will get the same results. This is a time for change and growth, so take advantage of it!

.) Get a second job. This is a great way to meet new people, keep busy and the extra benefit is that you bring in some extra bucks! Make it a job that you can enjoy like working in a bookstore if you love to read.

.) Take a vacation. Gather up some of the girls and take a long weekend or a week, if you can afford it. Go to another country. The difference in lifestyle and culture will have you so preoccupied you’ll be saying “what was his name again?”

.) Carry around a pocket size notebook and jot down things that you hear or see during the day that you would like to Google and find out more about. I remember a time when I researched deep-sea creatures for about two or three months. Spontaneous combustion was another topic I’ve dabbled in (and I wasn’t even going through a break-up). Researching different topics can be fun and can also keep your mind busy!!

.) Move! If you’ve always wanted to live somewhere else, but have been putting these plans on hold because of a certain unmentionable shmuckolah, then now is the time to do it! Working towards this very big goal will be so time consuming and exciting that after a while it will be all that you think about.

.) Volunteer. There are so many places that are looking for volunteers like children’s hospitals or schools. You might just end up with some eye-opening experiences. Seeing people less-fortunate than you will make you thank god that a break-up is the worst thing that you have going on right now!!

.)Spend more time with family and friends! How often in our busy schedules do we lose track of the people who are important to us. Use this time to reconnect with friends and family. Does a friend or family member have a dog? Offer to take their dog for a walk. Not only will the fresh air do you good but so will being around an animal. Studies show that pets are a great way to de-stress. Also, your friend will appreciate you taking the time to share an interest of hers. So what are you waiting for?!! Your new chapter starts now!!
