Today, we rode the train about 20 minutes north to Lugano, Switzerland. Lugano is one of Switzerland’s most populated cities and also home to the largest Italian speaking community outside of Italy. Here, palm trees grow side by side with magestic pines, and houses are carved into the mountains – all reflecting in the deep blue water of Lake Lugano. It’s truly a beautiful city and I can definitely see why it has become a popular destination for tourists.

This weekend, we attended the Sagra dell Uva (grape festival), in Mendrisio by our hotel. Judging by the looks of it, there was also a festival in Lugano this past weekend. While we walked around, workers were busy disassembling large tents that had been set up in the streets.
