Kicking off the New Year’s Eve Weekend in Sin City, I attended the Pitbull Concert at the Pearl Theater. Meanwhile, across town, The Killers (a band I really like) also performed in their home town of Las Vegas for the first time in more than three years! The Killers performed the first show out of of two sold-out performances inside the The Cosmopolitan’s unique entertainment venue The Chelsea with openers Louis XIV, a rock group from San Diego, and the fast-rising local band Most Thieves.

At 10:40 p.m., The Killers took to the main stage, igniting the venue as the award-winning four-piece rocked the crowd with hits such as “Mr. Brightside,” “Human,” “Sombody Told Me,” “Runaways” and “When You Were Young.”

Lead singer,  Brandon Flowers told the crowd “It feels good to be back home” and referred to his hometown of Las Vegas as the jewel of the Mohave Desert. In honor of their hometown, they performed part of Frank Sinatra’s “I Get a Kick Out of You” in true Killers style. The band closed out their encore with “All These Things That I’ve Done.” Pictures below.

The Killers return to The Chelsea tonight for an encore performance to yet another full-capacity crowd. On New Year’s Eve, The Chelsea will host legendary rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers for a truly dynamic night as 2012 winds down its final moments and guests welcome 2013 at Las Vegas’ most distinctive luxury resort.

Throughout the resort, other entertainers are revving up guests for what is bound to be an unforgettable weekend. Toro y Moi unleashed his eclectic sounds in the DJ booth at the rhythmic and vibrant LED lounge BOND while one of  Vegas’ top nightclubs, Marquee Nightclub (home of Marquee Mondays with LMFAO’s Red Foo and DJ Dainjazone), kept things poppin with German DJ ATB who started off the venue’s four-day dance party, which will finish on Dec. 31 with Benny Benassi’s headlining performance.

Sounds exciting – what a great way to ring in 2013! Happy New Year’s everyone!
