While Spring is in the air and on our minds, I wanted to hit the slopes one last time before turning in my skis for espadrilles. Having spent most of the season on the trails at Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut, it was a nice change of pace to go upstate (NY) and experience Windham Ski Resort.

The timing could not have been more perfect! The drive there was an endless forest of crystal – ice trees contrasted against bright blue skies. Once at the resort, the conditions were top – notch as well with 46 trails still open and full of fluffy white snow. While the resort was far from empty, there was plenty of room on the trails, no long waits for the lifts, and the lodge was surprisingly low volume (ie: no screaming kids, etc, etc).

Outside the lodge, the smell of burning cedar pleasantly filled the air from the resorts fire pit, situated just at the bottom of the slopes. This, combined with rock music playing on outdoor speakers, made the PERFECT setting for a little R&R between runs. It truly is a wonderful place to go if you love winter sports, live in NYC and want to take a day trip!
