Kate Moss Set to Cover British Vogue’s June Issue

Kate Moss Set to Cover British Vogue's June Issue-7

I grew up in the era of Kate Moss gracing every cover of every magazine and while for awhile, it seemed her time had passed, Kate has certainly proven that she still has what it takes. Nearing the big 4-0 (Kate is 38 years old), she is still able to land coveted spots on big name fashion magazines like British Vogue. Posing for the cover and an editorial spread for the mag’s June issue, Kate dons a studded leather and silk dress by Versace and Crescent earrings by Kara Ross and is looking as glamorous as ever!

The spread was photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and mark’s Moss’s 32nd cover for the British mag since her first in 1993. Inside the issue a toast to the iconic model reads:  “Kate Moss is our icon; a beautiful, untouchable, thoroughly twenty-first-century woman who remains as inscrutable as an early Renaissance heroine. While those around the 38-year-old have long testified to her earthy personality, tremendous sense of fun and filthy line in humour, she rarely speaks in public, giving her a remove from whichwe watch in awe, and allowing us to project upon her a thousand incarnations, from Grecian goddess to Little Briton to eternally dazzling cover star.” Photos below. read more

VS PINK’s 2012 MLB Collection (Go Yankees!!!)

Victoria's Secret PINK Yankees-27

My grandmother is a die hard Yankees fan. During baseball season, she can be found rooting for her favorite team routinely and missing a game is generally not an option (though the occasional birthday party for a family member may take precedence). Her love for the game has been passed down to her children, and now her grandchildren, and while I love showing my support, it wasn’t until recently that I could do so in style and comfort.

For the longest time, it seemed that MLB gear was made for men and boys and finding that ‘girly’ hat or T-shirt with the perfect fit was a losing battle. So, that being said, I was super excited when two seasons ago, I was invited to attend the launch of PINK’s Major League Baseball Collection with V.S. supermodel Behati Prinsloo! Finally, an entire range of sportswear that I LOVE!

The Major League Baseball Collection includes an exclusive assortment of co-branded merchandise ranging from tees to shorts, sweats and hoodies and even hats and bags! The items feature Victoria’s Secret PINK’s highly recognizable brand iconography and the names and logos of some of the biggest names in baseball including none other than New York’s own Yankees!

Upping the ante, VS PINK has recently launched their 2012 MLB Collection including apparel and accessories to include all 30 MLB teams. With the Yankees recent home opener and many others around the corner, what a better time than now to showcase all of the great new MLB styles from VS PINK. More below. read more

The Tory Burch Foundation: Why I love Tory Burch

tory burch foundation

Besides being an incredible fashion designer, Tory Burch is all about empowering women. Tory has been featured in numerous magazines regarding her impeccable sense of style and entrepreneurial success and while all this is great, it’s what she does to give back to women that makes her one of the best success stories, IMO.

Tory started the Tory Burch Foundation as a way to help women reach financial independence and the same type of success in the business world that Tory has been blessed with (of course, Tory has worked hard and tirelessly to earn her high rankings in the fashion world). Having been raised as the child of a single mother, you will see why Tory’s Foundation really resonates with me personally. My mother was always trying to make ends meet and had dreams of owning her own boutique. These dreams were draining financially, physically, and emotionally. Mentors like Tory are so important in helping make these reachable dreams a reality for many women.  Below is an excerpt from Tory’s website regarding her contributions to helping women achieve economic opportunities.

“Women are less likely to qualify for medical benefits or unemployment insurance. In the U.S., having a baby is a leading cause of a person’s income dipping below what’s needed to cover basic living expenses. Single mothers are at the highest risk of poverty and are the most likely to be self-employed entrepreneurs. Recent studies show that women, especially mothers, have also been disproportionately affected by the recent crisis.”  Continued… read more

Building a great contact list and portfolio is also extremely helpful. Kylie and Kendall Jenner - Contributors for Seventeen Magazine-14

The youngest members of the Kardashian/Jenner clan have landed coveted jobs at Seventeen Magazine – before even graduating high school! As West Coast fashion contributors for the popular magazine, the girls will give their fans fashion and beauty tips as well as film Vlogs, and participate in editorial photo shoots – sounds like a dream come true for most girls their age!

Like any teenage girl would be, the girls are excited about their new gig and  have taken to the internet to express their enthusiasm for the position. “People always ask us for fashion and beauty tips, and now we can share them directly with readers. It’s really exciting for us!” the girls said in a joint statement.

The E! reality stars will write for a monthly feature titled “Kendall & Kylie’s Fashion Journal”, which is set to debut in the June/July issue.  Seventeen Editor-in-Chief, Ann Shoket is also excited about having the girls on board saying:  “Kendall and Kylie have such a cool West Coast sense of style—they are evolving into true style icons. Cool Ways to Save Money, When Prepping for the Prom!

Flower hair pins for the Prom

As prom approaches us in the upcoming spring months, teenagers are in a frenzy trying to be the best dressed without draining their pockets. Prom can be a VERY expensive ordeal with dresses costing up to $1,000 (or more!). A recent study by American Express stated that the average teen spends about $1,400 on each prom they attend.

What many people don’t know is that there are many cheaper alternatives to achieving glamorous, prom looks. For example you can bedazzle your own shoes! I have done this for a few events. It’s super easy, and fairly cheap. I use old heels that I already have, or I go to my local Savers. I buy the glue (about $5), the crystals (about $25), and tweezers. You can add as many or as little crystals as you want. The great part is you’ll have hot shoes without spending all your money. read more

Roberto Cavalli’s ‘Wild Diva’ Special Edition Sunglasses

Roberto Cavalli Wild Diva Special Edition sunglasses-2

Roberto Cavalli and Marcolin present a Special Edition Sunglasses Collection for the Fall/Winter 2012-13 women’s fashion show. The alluring ‘Wild Diva’ model is a celebration of woman and pays homage to her femininity. An iconic, glamorous, savage model with a unique look whose audacious shape and surprising colors make it very daring; these sunglasses are for women who want to be noticed.

Skilfully crafted on the front for a second skin effect, it expresses an impetuous temperament through bold lines and strong traits, underscored by a crocodile/ostrich/shagreen print.

Bold chromatic contrasts, from the winter colours that swing from black tobacco to purple and back, to the stronger and more extreme pink, violet, yellow and acid green colours, all with matching or contrasting shaded lenses to add emphasis to the fashion essence of these sunglasses.
