Check Out Whitney Port In Company Magazine!

I think Whitney Port is gorgeous. Her original sense of style, cool attitude, and entrepreneurial success make her the perfect pick for Company Magazine’s September 2012 issue. Inside the mag, Whitney opens up about what it takes to be a good intern, why she loves London fashion, and how she once had to massage a model’s ‘gnarly’ feet during a photo-shoot (gross!)

Highlights from Whitney’s interview can found after the jump, along with photos and behind the scenes video from her fashion shoot.

On her appreciation of London girls’ style:

“When I first came to London, I was in awe of the girls walking down the street. They looked like they had just stepped out of a fashion shoot, with such a cool mix of prints, color and texture – especially in east London. When you’re from LA, it’s easy to get stuck in that jeans and T-shirt look, but being in the UK has encouraged me to take more risks. I’ve tried to be a little more street and edgier.”

On why she loves British style:

When I first came to London, I was in awe of the girls walking down the street. They looked like they had just stepped out of a fashion shoot, with such a cool mix of prints, colour and texture – especially in east London. When you’re from LA, it’s easy to get stuck in that jeans and t-shirt look, but being in the UK has encouraged me to take more risks. I’ve tried to be a little more street and edgier. I wear my Doc Martens and leather jackets more.

On what it takes to be the perfect intern:

I’ve just hired my first two interns this summer actually. I always notice the girls who have a great attitude and will do whatever it takes without necessarily having to be asked. Interns shouldn’t be afraid to take a stance. If they’re shot down, they’ll learn but for the most, a good company will be one that accepts your input. The worst thing you can do is talk too much! There’s a balance between being involved and lingering too long.

Photo shoot horror stories:

When I was working at Teen Vogue, we were doing a photoshoot with an actress, who shall remain nameless, and I had to moisturize her. Then I had to massage her feet and they were gnarly! It was at the beginning of my career so I did it without saying a word. It’s just what you do, but it was gross!
