During Fashion Week, I was invited to stop by the American Express Skybox and experience their ‘Urban Zen Balance Retreat‘. Ascending the stairs to the Skybox, I was greeted by the smell of lavender and immediately the sounds of fashion week began to dissipate. Once inside, I was invited to enjoy a range of services including Reiki and Aromatherapy by one of Donna Karan’s Urban Zen integrative therapists. Also on hand were light (but delicious) snacks & refreshments, and my drink of choice – Champagne!  The ‘Urban Zen Balance Retreat’ was one of several events that American Express hosted in the Sybox during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Many of the events, however, were reserved for card-members, including the opportunity to experience a bird’s eye view of the runway during many coveted fashion shows and access to expert fashion advice from industry leaders.

The ambiance inside the American Express Skybox was a natural mood pleaser – low lighting, and chill music set the mood for a relaxing get-away – even if it was only for an hour and a half!

If you’ve never been to fashion week, let me tell you that the hustle and bustle in the lobby and in the lines for the shows can be stressful at times (not that I’m complaining!) To be able to escape for  a little while was perfect!

One of Donna Karan’s integrative therapist walked me through some deep breathing exercises while using the scented oil to promote deep relaxation.

While the  ‘Urban Zen Balance Retreat‘ was for press only, I also attended a cardmember only event to experience Cynthia Rowley’s runway show, as well as the Academy of Art runway presentation in style and comfort. Nothing beats watching the latest designer fashions walk the runway while sipping Champagne and snacking on truffle popcorn! Post coming soon.
