Custo Barcelona Delivers a ‘Spirited’ Fall 2012 Collection

Custo Barcelona drew rave reviews at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week with the launch of the 2012 Autumn-Winter collection at Lincoln Center. With the launch of the Fall 2012 collection, the designer takes us to a rule-less world, full of creativity and nontraditional elegance.

The looks on the catwalk are translated into surprising combinations, which include a mix of fit and oversized lines to create drama on the runway.The touch of contradiction is demonstrated through the use of tromple l´oëil effects, thus painting and insinuating the feminine silhouette through strategic cuts symbolizing freshness and freedom.

This season’s key fabric is wool, crafted in different ways. Like graphic boiled wool or cut-off wool mimicking tectonic plaques on embroidered fabrics. The designer also presented perforated wools as a base for pieces revealing what is underneath, and wool cut in small geometric shapes that create ironic animal figures. Other important elements for this season are metallic colors and tricot pieces with high-quality materials. Color is a key player with shades of green, red, brown, ocher and gray dominate the color palette. Each color becomes a symbol on the catwalk, transmitting Custo’s energetic and sophisticated personality. Please see the full gallery below along with a list of who sat at Custo’s Fall 2012 show.

Izabel Goulart Shows Off Some Sexy Swimwear in SI!

It might be winter still here on the East Coast, but I’ve got summer on my mind, with an upcoming cruise to the Bahamas to plan, and the thought of warm weather not too far behind. While I love winter (and the sports that go along with the snowy season) I also love spending some time in the sun and making a splash seaside or taking a dip in the pool.

Recently, Izabel Goulart gave us a sneak peek at some of the sexy swimsuits that await us in the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Born in Brazil and photographed by Bjorn Iooss in San Blas Isands, Panama, Izabel struck a few daring poses in the barely-there ensembles that have me cleaning out the fridge, dusting off my scale, and swearing that tomorrow, yes, tomorrow, I will definitely up the ante at the gym!

Izabel Goulart has been making quite a name for herself as a lingerie and swimsuit model snagging not just the coveted spot in SI, but also working for the likes of Victoria’s Secret, a brand said to be the epitome of a swimsuit/lingerie model’s career! Not only did Izabel model for Sport’s Illustrated last year, she was also given the #100 spot in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World list. I’d have to agree – photos below.

Runway Show” as a grand finale for New York Fashion Week and we, at SocialVixen, want to send you! The event includes Complimentary Cocktails Courtesy of Svedka, Music by DJ Kiss, and will feature looks by some of the hottest fashion designers including Nicole Miller, Betsey Johnson, Rachel Comey, Lela Rose, Krizia, Kim Hicks, Ivana Helsinki, Leila Shams, Joseph, and more! While the fashion will be fabulous, the main attraction of the night will be showing your support for the women of Bottomless Closet.

At Bottomless Closet, women who are surviving different perils in life whether it is homelessness, abuse or job loss find a safe place to re-build their strength and self confidence. Tomorrow’s event will feature 24 REAL New York women from Bottomless Closet who have been cast to walk in the show as a way to bring REAL fashion to the runway. These women, whose sizes range from 4-12, will prove that not only do fashion designers design with glamour in mind, but to show that our industry cares about its real consumer, the women who wear the clothes. It will be the last official show on the Fashion Week calendar (the Empire Hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Lincoln Center) and will be a mix of participating designers, editors, celebrities, friends, and supporters.

Falguni & Shane Peacock’s Futurisitic Depiction for Fall 2012

Sunday’s line-up at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week included Falguni & Shane Peacock, a collection that caught the attention of fashion luminary, Fern Mallis as well as Vixens Ashanti, Michelle Williams, and supermodel Petra Nemcova. I’m sure a few other celebrities could be found sitting front row – but honestly, I was far too mesmerized by the runway to pay the front row much attention!

As for the models, they confidently stormed the runway with fiercely painted-on eyebrow and sleek ponytails wrapped in a metal spiral, which helped create a very futuristic vibe. The music, as can be heard in the video below, also depicts a generation of the future with it’s techno beat combined with a visual lighting display that was applause worthy. The collection was extremely beautiful and consisted of garments that were very much in line with the Fall 2012 season – lots of velvet, leather, metallic embroidery, geometric cutouts, and thigh high slits in the gowns, all creating a glamorous sensibility that, had the music not been pumping through the venue, would have had me humming Katy Perry’s E.T. It seems that the body parts of choice for Fall 2012 are the thigh, as noted in the thigh high slits in the gowns, and the back, as can be seen in many of the low backs – either cut out, v-neck, or cowl draping. Happy Valentine’s Day from the Victoria’s Secret Angels!

Valentine’s Day is by far the sexiest day of the year, and no on does ‘sexy’ better than the Victoria’s Secret Supermodels! So for this year’s Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to share some sexy V.S. photos as well as a video made by the Angels giving advice on what to do and what not to do on the romantic holiday. Enjoy!

Also, as part of their promotional tour, Adriana Lima, Lindsay Ellingson, and Doutzen Kroes attended a Valentine’s Day Event at Victoria’s Secret, SoHo in New York City last Wednesday (February 8), while Victoria’s Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton and Lily Aldridge launched all the new Love Me Lingerie Push-Up Collection at the Herald Square store on Thursday, February 9, New York City. Full Fashion Rundown from the 2012 GRAMMY Awards

Miranda Lambert and her musician/’The Voice’ hubby were just a few of the stars who were dressed-to-the-nines at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards last night (Sunday) in Los Angeles.

The highly anticipated event showcased not just some of the best musical talent in today’s industry, but some of the top fashion as well.

There was Adam Levine fronting Maroon 5, with his super hot, Victoria’s Secret girlfriend, Anne V (who wore a barely-there dress). Then, musical big-wigs like Adele, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Fergie, Carrie Underwood, and Nicki Minaj (who showed up to the party with a Pope as arm candy), to name a few. Besides nominated artists, there were also fashionable guests like Paris Hilton, Julianne Hough, and a few unexpected visitors like the Youtube sensation Jessica Black and the Jersey Shore’s Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi. Adele Opens Up About Her Life-Changing Year for Vogue’s March 2012 Issue

The highly successful, British songstress, Adele, is the latest beauty to grace the cover of Vogue magazine for the March 2012 edition.

Fresh off her win of several GRAMMY Awards last night, Adele opened up to the magazine about her bold personality, her recent surgery (for recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage), why she quit drinking, and what she thinks about being famous (she hates being on the red carpet). She also posed for a variety of photographs for photographer, Marcus Piggott, in a photo-shoot styled by Mert Alas.

Randi Rahm’s 5th Avenue VIP Cocktail Party

Kicking off New York Fashion Week, haute couture designer, Randi Rahm hosted a fashionable soiree in her Fifth Avenue studio. At the party, Rahm announced a date for one of her upcoming philanthropic events, “Rahm’s Prom”, a prom-inspired cocktail gala being held on April 12th at the Essex House, to benefit Operation PROM and The Children’s Storefront, a nonprofit Harlem school for underprivileged children. The Bachlorette’s Ashley Hebert and finance’ JP Rosenbaum will be crowned Prom Queen and King during this event as a way to show their support for the cause.

During the evening, while guests mingled enjoying champagne, Wooden Ships Wines, and chilled, signature ‘Randi’ – martinis made with ONEROQ and served from a custom ice luge, models presented several magnificent red-carpet gowns designed by Rahm, which can be seen in the photos below. Also at the event, were orderves like macaroon – pastrami sandwiches (talk about an explosion of flavor!), and a custom cigar table, where an expert rolled freshly made cigars for guests.
